The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH attaches great importance to responsible and transparent management of personal data. Data Protection Provisions about the Application and Use of YouTube

On the conference website we use YouTube as a video platform to livestream the conference. The operating company of YouTube is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland. Further information about YouTube may be obtained under www.youtube.com/yt/about/en.

YouTube is only used to livestream the conference into this website. The livestream is not publicly available on YouTube and will be deleted after the conference.

Please be aware, that with each visit to an individual page of this website with an integrated YouTube component (YouTube video), your internet browser is automatically prompted to download a display of the corresponding YouTube component. During this technical procedure, YouTube/Google gains knowledge of what specific subpage of our website you visited.

If you are logged in on YouTube at the time of the call to our website, this information is collected by YouTube/Google and assigned to your YouTube account; this occurs regardless of whether you click on a YouTube video or not. If you don’t wish for such a transmission of information to YouTube/Google to happen, please log off from your YouTube account.

In case you are using a registration service it is necessary to enter personal data for further processing. As mentioned above your personal data will be stored and processed by GIZ GmbH and its subcontractors Media Company as well as greenstorming GmbH for the purpose of preparing and holding the event, for which you register, and will be forwarded to the hosting organisations – the Federal Foreign Office and, if applicable, the cooperation partners mentioned in the invitation. The legal basis for this is Article 6 (1) b of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

Furthermore, your data will then be stored and processed in order to provide information about future events. The legal basis for this is Article 6 (1) e of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). The following personal data are collected: Title, Academic Title, First Name, Last Name, Position, Institution, Country and Email. These data are transferred to a server located in Germany via a SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connection. After registering on this website, you will receive a confirmation of registration via email, as well as further information regarding the conference, if necessary. Your personal data will be stored for the duration of the conference, which includes its planning, organization, realization and follow-up. The registration technology used ensures the protection of personal data. Access to your personal data is restricted to authorized staff – i.e. our staff in charge of the technical, financial and editorial handling of the server.

 Reference to user rights

• To obtain information about their data stored by us (Article 15 GDPR)
• To have their data stored by us rectified (Article 16 GDPR)
• To have their data stored by us erased (Article 17 GDPR)
• To obtain restriction of processing of their data stored by us (Article 18 GDPR) 
• To object to the storage of their data if personal data are processed on the basis of the first sentence of Article 6 (1) 1 f and e GDPR (Article 21 GDPR)
• To receive their personal data in a commonly used and machine-readable format from the controller such that they can be potentially transmitted to another controller (right to data portability, Article 20 GDPR).
• To withdraw their consent to the extent that the data has been processed on the basis of consent (Article 6 (1) a GDPR). The lawfulness of the processing on the basis of the consent given remains unaffected until receipt of the withdrawal.

Users also have the right in accordance with Article 77 GDPR to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority is the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI).
